On January 18, 2022 i3 Academy’s students and faculty will return to in-person instruction on a staggered schedule with students attending in two separate groups on alternate days of the week (more details below). We will maintain this schedule through Friday, February 4, 2022. After reviewing relevant data from student and faculty testing results, as well as our local health data here in Jefferson County, i3 Academy’s leadership, with input from various stakeholders and advisors, has weighed all options and believes this is the safest possible approach to safely return to in-person instruction. Placing the students in two groups enhances spacing in classrooms and on school buses.
In addition to enhanced spacing we will reinstitute daily temperature checks for students before they enter their grade level houses. We will of course maintain our masking policies. We advise families to send their students to school with a mask that fits properly. Please take the time to discuss with your student(s) the importance of wearing their mask properly – over the mouth and nose. We would also advise sending a reserve mask in their backpack, just in case they lose their mask or it becomes damaged during the day.
We strongly encourage you to consider signing your child up for testing, which is administered during the school day and is offered free of charge at the school. Furthermore, we suggest you consider having your child vaccinated as soon as possible. We will continue to host vaccine clinics at the elementary campus in the weeks to come. More information for upcoming clinics will be made available as soon as we establish the date(s).
Our student groups (A group & B group) will be based on household/family to limit the number of trips families have to make to the school during the week. We will maintain this schedule until Friday, February 4, 2022 at which time we will reassess the data and weigh our options. It is important to note that at any point during this period of time (January 18 - February 4, 2022), if COVID cases continue to increase, we will pivot back to full remote instruction until it is safe to return to in-person instruction. Your schedule will be sent out by your child’s teacher tomorrow no later than 3:00 p.m.
For the week of January 18-21, Group A will attend Tuesday 1/18 and Wednesday 1/19, and Group B will attend Thursday 1/20 and Friday 1/21.
For the week of January 24-28, Group A will attend Monday 1/24 and Tuesday 1/25 and Group B will attend Thursday 1/27 and Friday 1/28.
